The Void Within: Orion's Prophecies Unfold
After months of cryptic teasers and mounting anticipation, The Void Within plot officially launched on June 17, 2024, bringing with it a whirlwind of mysteries, challenges, and surprises. At the heart of this enthralling adventure was none other than our ever-curious Ogrin friend, Orion O. Ophiuchus, whose peculiar visions sparked the journey.
A Mysterious Beginning
The seeds of this epic tale were planted much earlier than many realized, all the way back during the 2023 Advent Calendar. On Day 6, Orion appeared before Reina, the cheerful Christmas Aisha hosting the festivities, with an unsettling plea. He urged her to halt the celebrations, shaken by dark visions tied to a mysterious lyre—a hauntingly beautiful U-shaped string instrument reminiscent of a harp.
From there, the intrigue only deepened. The lyre’s eerie melody seemed to echo through the remaining Advent days, with key moments unfolding on Days 15, 26, and 30. A series of comics between Days 26-29 brought these ominous events to life through comic pages, hinting at a growing shadow threatening all of Neopia. (You can relive those chilling moments here.)
Orion’s Prophecies Take Shape
Fast forward to the 2024 Festival of Neggs, when things truly began to escalate. Orion’s cryptic visions and puzzling side quests took center stage, and players were called upon to aid him in unraveling the mystery. Whether deciphering vague clues, uncovering hidden locations, or simply diving into the plot through comics and dialogue, every interaction helped bring clarity to his visions in the events to come.
And here’s the twist: progress toward the coveted Orion’s Prophecies trophy only started counting during the Festival itself! This revelation left many players scrambling to revisit the earlier chapters of this tale, ensuring they pieced together every vital detail from Orion’s journey.
The journey to unlock the secrets of The Void Within—and earn the coveted Orion’s Prophecies trophy—spanned four distinct events across the site (the 2024 Festival of Neggs, Altador Cup, Faerie Festival and Advent Calendar). To help you follow along with Orion’s thrilling and enigmatic adventure, we’ve organized this guide into four sections, each corresponding to a key chapter in the plot.
Each section includes links to relevant information from the events themselves, ensuring you can piece together every clue and revisit the excitement of Orion’s visions. Whether you’re diving into this tale for the first time or retracing your steps to refresh your memory on the journey thus far, this guide will keep you on track and immersed in the mystery.
Part One; Festival of Neggs
Beginning on April 30, 2024, during the Festival of Neggs, players could embark on a special set of side quests by speaking with Orion. These quests tasked participants with reporting unusual sightings tied to his mysterious visions. According to Orion’s dialogue, the questline was designed to span eight days, with a new location to uncover each day.
Missed a day? No problem—players could catch up on previous tasks all at once. While completing these quests promised a prize for assisting Orion, it seemed unlikely that additional rewards would be offered for finding the locations daily, as the quest’s structure focused more on participation than timing. This segment of the plot worked differently from its later stages, offering a more forgiving structure. There was no need to complete each vision or task on the exact day it became available. Instead, as long as all eight sightings were completed before this portion concluded, every player earned the same rewards, regardless of timing.
Additional dialogue from the event is available and can be found in our guide to that year's Festival of Neggs, which you can explore here.
Decoding the Visions
Throughout the eight-day duration of this side quest, players were tasked with visiting eight specific locations. While the set of locations was the same for everyone, the exact spot where a mysterious sighting appeared each day varied from player to player. Once you found a sighting at a given location, it wouldn’t appear there again, allowing you to eliminate that spot from your list and focus on the remaining locations.
Sighting Locations | |||
---|---|---|---|
The Bakery | The Crumpetmonger | Lost Desert Foods | Merifoods |
Molten Morsels | Mystery Island Volcano | Qasalan Delights | Tyrannian Foods |
You could confirm you’d found the correct location for the day when a peculiar appendage—such as a tail or leg—appeared along the side of your screen. Clicking on it triggered a pop-up window where Orion provided a brief dialogue, letting you know how many locations remained to be investigated out of the eight total. Once you had completed the day’s task, returning to the Festival Hub revealed a well-deserved pause in the action. Orion would remark that it was time for some much-needed rest, signaling you were caught up and ready for the next day’s journey.
The Finale
"The size of this unique being is directly tied to its age, and due to some of the few giant specimens that have been discovered it is believed that they can live for a very, very long time. Another unique known fact about the creatures is they can move through the magma underneath the planets surface to travel anywhere around the globe almost instantly.
On the final day of the event, after uncovering all eight body-parts across the designated locations in Neopia, the quest led players to Moltara City. Here you would find an adorable new species of Petpet, the Tuffala, after clicking the bottom of Tangor's Workshop with a short description of your discovery
You enter a small, newly formed crevasse at the base of the building, and find a sort of cave at the bottom. It seems like this cavern must have been sealed up before the crack formed. Inside you discover a rather large petpet asleep by the flowing lava. Better bring it back to Orion to see if this has anything to do with his visions!
Players who successfully located all the body parts and visited Moltara City before the conclusion of the Festival of Neggs were rewarded with a selection of prizes. Additionally, they earned the first stage of the Orion’s Prophecies trophy, marking their progress in this exciting journey. The item prizes recieved in conclusion to this portion of the side-quests were as follows;

Part Two; Altador Cup
The second chapter of the side-quest kicked off on August 2, 2024, when Orion made an unexpected appearance in the Altador Cup XIX news section. This time, he wasn’t just dropping by for a friendly chat—he had a mystery on his hands. Orion revealed that he was once again experiencing strange visions, but instead of cryptic moving visions, they came as distorted images that left him stumped. Here’s how he described it in his own words:
"Hello there... sorry I'm not very good at talking to crowds... b-but Sigmir and Sweet have graciously allowed me on today as I have big news. F-for those who don't know me, I am Orion O. Ophiuchus, and I have recently been, let's say gifted, with terrible visions that s-seem to be at their strongest when many Neopians gather together. If I w-wasn't able to make your acquaintance during the Festival of Neggs then this must seem very strange to you, but nevertheless, I am h-here to ask for your assistance once again. M-my visions are still not very strong, but this time I can at least see pieces of them, however, they appear very distorted now. So... as a possible solution I...I thought perhaps the fans of the Altador Cup could help me with this predicament! I will share my visions here as they come to me and, hopefully, some of you may be able to recognise something from them! I'll be doing my best to search too, so if you find any place that seems to match my visions, just wait for me there and I'll make my way over to you soon!"
Orion continued to make headlines throughout Altador Cup XIX, appearing in the news on three additional occasions. In total, he graced us with four appearances on August 2, 2024, August 7, 2024, August 13, 2024 & August 20, 2024, each accompanied by a new distorted image for us to decipher.
Solving the Distorted Images
After reading Orion's explanation, you'd see a Offer Help button conveniently placed just below his distorted vision. Clicking this button will whisk you away to the Map of Neopia. From there, it was up to you to figure out where the image is pointing and visit the location you believe matched the clue.
You knew you had found the right location when a window popped up with more dialogue from Orion. As a reward for helping him uncover the location of his vision, you received an item prize. Additionally, Orion revealed a fragment of a tablet-like stone that he had discovered somewhere in the area you visited. With each tablet discovery there would be a short description from Orion explaining where & how he found that specific piece The pieces uncovered & their dialogue are shown below;
Tablet Piece | Dialogue |
|
I looked around and found this strange stone with writing on it, embedded near the top of the tree this store is built into! It must have been placed there so long ago that the tree grew around it! How old do you think it must be then? |
|
Once I arrived I was immediately drawn to the Deserted Tomb, but didn't even need to enter as I found this strange stone as one of the many used to build it. Hidden in plain sight I suppose...but based on the erosion of it being the same as the others from the tomb, this must have been here from the beginning. Who even knows how long ago that must have been...who could have placed it there? |
|
It took some work, but I found this strange stone deep inside the ice of the chasm next to this shop. I...I'm not sure how it got there. Due to the distance in the ice, it must have been there when this cave formed. Which must have been long before... well, I don't even know! Probably before recorded history! |
|
There is tons of rubble here... If it wasn't for me being drawn to it I would never have thought to pick up this particular stone. I had to dig through the debris, but I somehow knew this was what I was meant to find here. My main questions now are how long must this have been here, and why was it here to begin with? |
Vision Solutions & Prizes
The four images presented for us to solve are displayed below, along with the locations they led to and the items awarded for uncovering each specific destination.
Vision | Solution | Prize |
---|---|---|
Tyrannian Furniture | Fluffy Gruslen Rug Wearable |
|
The Lost City of Geraptiku | Skull Punch Handheld |
|
Ice Crystal Shop | Frozen Pendant |

Ruins of Maraqua | Kelp Forest Trinket |
Additionally, players received another Music Cylinder item, along with bonus prizes, if they solved Orion's distorted image on the same day it appeared in the news. Players could still complete the quest after its release day, although doing so meant forfeiting the bonus prize for solving it on the same day. However, the riddle and its associated prize remained available only until Orion's next news appearance—at which point the previous vision and its rewards became inaccessible.
Players who participated in Orion's previous quests during the Festival of Neggs received their first trophy upgrade, transforming their plain wooden lyre into a shiny new bronze lyre engraved with a single star.

Part Three; Faerie Festival
On October 3, 2024, Orion made an appearance during the Faerie Festival, visiting both Illusen and Jhudora at their respective spots. Beginning the third portion of our on-going side-quests. Players could explore a series of dialogues that not only offered a deeper look into the complexity of Illusen and Jhudora's tumultuous relationship but also hinted at the possibility of a long-awaited reconciliation between the two.
This part of the side-quests still contributed to your trophy progression, but there wasn’t much to do beyond following along with the story as it unfolded throughout the Faerie Festival. All the dialogue from the event, whether you participated in Illusen's or Jhudora's festivities, is available in our Faerie Festival guide. You can check it out here.
Part Three Prizes
Players who read through the complete Faerie Festival dialogue before October 10th were rewarded with the third elemental Musical Cylinder. Additionally, this was the opportunity to earn the second upgrade to your Orion's Prophecies trophy—provided you had participated in the previous two segments of the side-quests. Your trophy would have progressed from a bronze lyre with one engraved star to a silver lyre adorned with two stars.

Part Four; Advent Calendar
The fourth and final chapter of Orion's Quests brought us back to the Advent Calendar, where we once again engaged in dialogue with Reina. This time, however, the objective wasn’t to stop the festivies but to ensure it kept running. Orion explained that his visions were strongest and clearest when large gatherings of Neopians came together, making the Advent Calendar the perfect setting for his quest.
Throughout the Advent, on select days, players could read short dialogues between Orion and Reina. These exchanges shed light on where Orion's discoveries during the previous events had led him. At the conclusion of the first four dialogues, a single-page comic was featured as that day’s Advent Calendar image/animation, offering a visual glimpse into the unfolding story.
Day 5
In addition to the comic featured as Day 5's Advent Calendar animation, players were also rewarded with the fourth elemental Musical Cylinder as part of the day’s item prizes. There were two additional prizes given out by the Advent Calendar that were not exactly plot related, but had to do with that day's comic and can be viewed here.

Day 13
On Day 13 players did not recieve any plot item prizes, but you can view the prizes that day gave out in our guide here.
Day 21
On Day 21 players did not recieve any plot item prizes, but you can view the prizes that day gave out in our guide here.
Day 28
Day 28 marked the final rewards for players’ overall progression across all previous Orion's Quests. Depending on your level of participation in the past three parts of the side-quest, you received different prizes. On this day, a special comic was also released as part of that day's animation. Here’s the twist: not every player received the same comic page. Four different images circulated, each featuring a distinct piece of the tablet fragments found back in Part Two of the Orion's Quests, now shown in much greater detail and enlarged. Additionally, there was one more prize awarded by the Advent Calendar that didn’t seem to be plot-related, which can be viewed here.
Thanks to Neopets user caraotico, the four tablet images spread across the different comic book pages were carefully assembled and displayed on their petpage, which you can view here. (For your convenience, we’ve also included the image below.)
The dialogue continued on Days 29 and 31, but had no contribution toward your prizes or trophy progression. You can view the complete Advent Calendar dialogue here.
Final Quest Prizes
Players who participated in any of the four side-quests, whether all of them, just a few, or even just one, received item prizes. Those who took part in all four quests were awarded every available prize for their full participation as well as the final golden lyre stage of the Orion's Prophecies trophy. Conversely, less participation resulted in a reduction of the prizes awarded.
