Neopets' upcoming plot, The Void Within, is set to launch sometime around June 17, 2024. Several new characters and petpets have been introduced into Neopia over the past year, so take a quick refresher before the plot officially kicks off.

Festival of Neggs 2023

The prelude to The Void Within launched during the Festival of Neggs 2023. We met Orion O. Ophuichus for the first time, an Ogrin who is destined to help his family's business in the stars. He uses tarot cards and scientific methods to identify objects in space. We also collaborated with Mira, the Space Faerie, as well as Illusen and Jhudora, to help clean up Neopia's pollution. Monty McTaggart, the CEO of Obsidian Mining Company, offered sustainable energy solutions to assist with the cleanup.

As the Festival progressed, we learned Malkus Vile was working alongside Monty McTaggart to weaken the faeries. Together, they attempted to bottle up Illusen. Monty swore this plan did not originate from him. He eventually revealed Vira and an unknown faerie were behind these events. Queen Fyora has visions of this disaster happening but does not tell anyone.

The Festival of Neggs concludes with Neopians, Illusen, Jhudora and Mira cleaning up the pollution. Additionally, Orion has discovered a new petpet species called the Bython. A brief glimpse of a brand-new paintbrush is also seen.

Advent Calendar 2023

The next significant portion of the storyline appeared during the 2023 Advent Calendar. Orion returned with a magical lyre, which has given him access to visions upon playing it. In one of his visions, he sees an Aisha named Nyx who is lost in space.

Nyx is cursed by a mysterious creature and is later saved by her Faellie petpet. We also see the paintbrush mentioned during the Festival of Neggs and a brief glimpse of Lord Kass's sword trapped in a space rock. The last important piece of information shows an unknown grey character holding a mysterious paintbrush looking over Brightvale.

Spring 2024

In spring of 2024, various shopkeepers, dailies and Neopian characters began turning grey. Additionally, various defaced posters started popping up across the News page.

Festival of Neggs 2024

Orion returns once again during the 2024 Festival of Neggs. His visions are strongest during events. Orion's visions are becoming more frequent, but he cannot recall them. Our help is required to discover what he is seeing. We must search around Neopia, collecting what appears to be body parts and end up beside the Obsidian Mining Company. Here, we discover a brand new petpet, the Tuffala.

The Festivalof Neggs concludes with a major hint that our next meeting will be during the Altador Cup.

In the meantime, The Neopets Team had an Ask Me Anything, which revealed the plot should begin near June 17th, pushing the Altador Cup back into sometime in July.
