Neopets upcoming plot, The Void Within, is set to launch sometime around June 17, 2024. Several new characters and petpets have been introduced into Neopia over the past year, so take a quick refresher before the plot kicks off.

Festival of Neggs 2023

The prelude to The Void Within launched during the Festival of Neggs 2023. We met Orion O. Ophuichus for the first time, an Ogrin who is destined to help is his family business in the stars . He uses tarot cards and science to help identify objects in space. We worked closely with Mira, the Space Faerie, and Illusen and Jhudora, to help clean up the pollution in Neopia. Monty McTaggart, the CEO of Obsidian Mining Company, offered sustainable energy to help assist the clean up.

As the Festival progressed, it was revealed that Malkus Vile was working closely with Monty McTaggart to weaken the faeries and attempted to bottle up Illusen. Monty swore that this plan did not originate from him, later revealing that Vira and an unknown faerie were behind this. Queen Fyora has visions of this disaster happening but does not tell anyone.

The Festival of Neggs concludes with Illusen, Jhudora and Mira (and us) cleaning up the pollution. We also discover that Orion has discovered a new Petpet species, the Bython, and we see a brief glimpse of a brand new Paint Brush.

Advent Calendar 2023

The next significant portion of the storyline appeared during the Advent Calendar 2023. Orion returned with a magical lyre, which has given him access to visions upon playing it. In one of his visions, he sees an Aisha named Nyx who is lost in space.

Nyx becomes cursed by a mysterious creature, and is later saved by her Faellie petpet. We also see the paint brush mentioned during the Festival of Neggs and a brief glimpse of Lord Kass' sword trapped in a space rock. The last important piece of information showed an unknown grey character holding a mysterious paint brush looking over Brightvale.

Spring 2024

In spring of 2024, various shopkeepers, dailies and characters around Neopia began turning grey. Additionally various defaced posters started showing up across the News page.

Festival of Neggs 2024

Orion returns once again during the Festival of Neggs 2024 due to his visions being strongest during events. His visions are growing more frequent but he cannot remember them and needs our help to discover what he is seeing. We search around Neopia, collecting what appear to be body parts, and end up beside the Obsidian Mining Company. Here we discover a brand new petpet, the Tuffala.

The Festival ends with a major hint that our next meeting will be during the Altador Cup.

In the meantime, The Neopets Team had an AMA which revealed the plot should begin near June 17th, pushing the Altador Cup back into sometime in July.

On June 17, 2024, it was discovered that Meridell and The Grumpy Old King had turned grey.
