Introduction

Puzzles of the Past was introduced to the plot on April 28, 2026. In this timed challenge, players must complete a puzzle as quickly as possible, with their finishing time deciding the level of trophy they receive.

How It Works

The puzzles are first encountered in Chapter 12 on pages 1, 30, and 35. Once completed, they can be accessed at any time from the Plot Headquarters under the Games tab.

When starting the puzzle, a timer will appear in the top-right corner of the screen. On the left-hand side, a scrolling menu displays all available pieces, along with the number remaining to be placed. Players can choose to place all available pieces on the board by clicking the Place All Pieces button or you can drag and drop them into the blank grid to begin assembling the puzzle.

As the puzzle progresses, the progress bar below the puzzle board will gradually fill, showing how many pieces have been correctly placed.

If you would like to clear your puzzle board of loose pieces, click the Reset Loose Pieces button at the top of the screen. This will return all unconnected pieces to the scrolling menu.

You can also preview the completed image by clicking the Preview button.

If you need to step away, click the Pause button at the top of the screen to open a pop-up menu. From here, you can resume the puzzle at any time or choose to save and suspend your progress for later.

Strategy

A helpful strategy when assembling puzzles is to start with the edge pieces, then work inward to complete the rest. This makes it easier to determine the placement of the inner pieces.

To progress the story, players must complete all three puzzles. After completing them once, the easiest puzzle can be replayed to earn additional rewards and improve your Puzzles of the Past trophy tier. Below is a list of each puzzle, including their piece counts and preview images.

Prizes

Upon successfully completing each puzzle during Chapter 12, players will receive a reward from a set item pool (two items for Premium users), 10 plot points (20 when using a Plot Points Fortune Cookie), and a trophy.

Plot points and prizes are only awarded on your first completion of each puzzle. Subsequent playthroughs accessed through the Games tab at the Plot Headquarters will only count toward upgrading your trophy tier.

Fearless Deed & Avatar

By successfully completing all three Puzzles of the Past puzzles, you will earn the Jigsaw Journey fearless deed. To learn more about this achievement and how to complete it, check out our guide.

The Jigsaw Puzzle Addict avatar is rewarded randomly when completing a Puzzle of the Past puzzle.

Trophy

Puzzles of the Past also features a trophy system, awarded based on completing a puzzle within a specific timeframe. Didn’t earn Gold on your first try? No worries, you can attempt it again.
