Neopets Premium (2024+)

Introduction

Neopets Premium is a subscription service that TNT offers it's playerbase to purchase with real-world currency in exchange for site-perks & features that you otherwise would not have access to.

Premium originally released in 2005 and had remained completely unchanged for about 7 years. In late 2011 TNT announced that they would be re-vamping the service & that users could expect to see new perks, a better premium interface & a better over-all gaming experience. This update officially released on June 11, 2012. Neopets Premium recieved another update which released to users on August 1, 2018, this gave us three new features; a journal, an extra 10 gallery categories (bringing the regular 20, up to 30) & a yearly species change perk. On May 23, 2024 TNT made an announcement that they were offering any NEW annual membership sign-ups a free 2,000 NC. While users that were currently subscribed to a monthly or the previous available 4-month (discontinued on September 27, 2023) subscriptions had the choice to upgrade their membership to the annual to recieve the announced bonus, the users that already had annual were unfortunately left out of recieving it. TNT did make sure to answer in the FAQ released in the same announcement that while annual subscribers will not be recieving the 2,000 NC bonus they would be eligible for any & all new updates they plan to roll out in the coming months. Subscribing & Pricing

To sign up for the Neopets Premium you'll need to visit this page & click the green Subscribe Now button. After clicking that button it will scroll you down to the bottom of the webpage to select your plan. Plans come in two different options currently; Annual Subscription ($69.95 USD Billed Annually) or Monthly Subscription ($7.95 Billed Monthly)

Once you've decided on a plan go ahead and click on one of the Choose This Plan! buttons. A window will pop-up prompting you to re-enter your login details, after doing so you'll be taken to a screen where you can put in you payment details and viola! You're all good to go! It may take a few moments for everything to process.

Perks & Features

Being a Premium user gives you access to all kinds of goodies for you to partake in. Below you can see a clickable master-list of everything currently available to Premium Subscribers. Some of the perks will take you to a stand-a-alone guide while others are included in this article.

+10 Gallery Categories

Having a gallery is something you'll find pretty commonly on Neopets, but what makes this perk so special is that it allows you to create an additional +10 categories in your gallery. With there being such a MASSIVE amount of items to collect one may find the available 20 catergories filling up fast.

The best part is even if you stop your premium & you've already created your categories you won't lose them, not only that but you're able to edit the names & add items to the categories. As long as you do not delete the category you'll continue to have access to it.

Avatar & Site Theme

After signing up you'll instantly have access to both the Premium Space Faerie avatar and Space Faerie Premium site theme. While the avatar doesn't count toward your total of avies, it's still a pretty cool looking avatar!

You can apply both the avatar and the site them in your settings section on Neopets. The avatar can be applied via the Neoboard section in settings & the site them can be applied via Generl section in settings. (The site theme can be applied to both the classic and updated version of neopets)

Cosmic Dome

Premium users will have access to an exclusive arena in the Battledome called the Cosmic Dome. In this area you will find two opponents the Giant Space Fungus & Jetsam Ace. Users are paticulary fond of fighting these opponents as they have a pretty high chance of dropping Nerkmids, a valuable item on Neopets.

Custom Dailies List

This feature allows you to customize a quick click list of your favorite dailies, so everyone can have a list unique to how they play neopets.

To get started, head over to a classic Neopets page, such as your Shop Stock page. On the page, you'll notice a Premium Toolbar at the bottom. This bar is visible on all classic Neopets pages for Premium members, and it includes a variety of useful options. One of the buttons on the toolbar will say Dailies. Clicking on this button will open a pop-up window with a list of pre-set daily activities. To customize this list to your liking, look for the gear icon within the Dailies pop-up. When you click on it, you'll be taken to a settings page where you can checkmark which dailies you want to display in your list & add up to five custom dailies of your own.

This feature makes managing your daily Neopets tasks much easier, so you can enjoy your time in Neopia even more!

Premium Random Events

With this perk premium users are eligible to receive a random event that can grant them a random amount of Neopoints between 1000 to 2500 or a random item up to r75. These events add an extra layer of excitement to the Neopets experience. It's one of the many perks of having a Premium membership, making it even more rewarding to explore and interact with the world of Neopia, best part is they are always good!

Premium Featured Games

Each day, a different game is highlighted, offering Premium users the chance to earn bonus Neopoints, while also still having access to the regular featured game of the day. It's a great way to enjoy some exclusive content while reaping rewards for your gaming skills!

Free Birthday Training

PLEASE NOTE THIS FEATURE IS CURRENTLY BUGGED AND NOT WORKING AS INTENDED

This perk allows you to take advantage of free birthday training for your pets. Each year, on your pet's birthday, premium members can train their pets for free at the Swashbuckling Academy on Krawk Island. This perk allows you to boost your pet's stats without spending Neopoints on training items, making it a great way to improve your pet's abilities while celebrating their special day. This means that premium users can get two free training days per pet per year, one on their respective pet days (which is available to all users) & one on their birthday.

You can find out each of your pets birthday's by visting their pet lookup!

Customisation Journal

The Customization Journal is a handy feature that lets you capture a snapshot of your pet’s outfit and add a personalized description of their look. Whether you’re experimenting with different styles or just love changing your pet's wardrobe frequently, the Journal allows you to easily save and revisit past outfits. It's perfect for keeping track of your pet’s fashion history, so you can quickly recreate or be inspired by previous looks you’ve created. With this feature, you'll never have to worry about forgetting a favorite outfit again! You can access the journal from both your userlookup or your Premium Toolbar.

Premium Interface & Hub

When browsing the classic Neopets site, a toolbar will appear at the bottom of every page, offering quick access to a variety of Premium features. This includes tools like the Super Shop Wizard, a Premium Featured Game, links to your Dailies, your Bankroll, the Customisation Journal, Species Change Perk, Space Faerie Scratchcard redemption, as well as access to your Premium Neodeck, Premium Neoboards, and the Premium FAQ.

The Bankroll section displays your total Neopoint balance, combining your bank account, shop till, and on-hand Neopoints (shown in the top right corner of the page). It helps you easily keep track of your available funds across all areas of your Neopets account.

Customisation Journal

Even More Pets!

Since 2012, all Premium members have enjoyed the benefit of an additional pet slot as long as their membership is active. Initially, this allowed Premium users to care for up to 5 Neopets. From October 2017 to November 2019, a new pet slot was introduced for all Neopians, increasing the maximum number of Neopets a Premium member could have to 6. Then, in November 2019, another slot was added, bringing the total to 7 pets for Premium members.

Starting December 20, 2021, with the introduction of extra pet slots available for purchase via NC, Premium members saw an even greater boost, now able to manage up to 20 Neopets—thanks to the additional 3 slots exclusive to Premium subscribers.

Losing Pet Slots

If you choose to cancel your Premium membership, you will unfortunately lose your pet slots. When your premium expires you will be prompted to decide what to do with your extra pets acquired via the premium pet slots. You'll need to choose which pets will be placed in essentially a dormant state. During this process, you will not be able to access most features on Neopets until you've made your selection.

There doesn't appear to be a set limit on how long pets can stay inactive on your account, and it's likely that they can remain in this state indefinitely. Previously, if a Premium membership was not renewed within 90 days, any extra pets would be sent to the Pound. However, since the introduction of purchasable pet slots on December 20, 2021, this no longer seems to be the case.

Dormant pets can be made active again by either purchasing pet slots from the NC Mall, transferring them to a side account or by re-subscribing to premium. Until then you won't be able to interact with the chosen dormant pets. You will however be able to see a faded out version of them from your Neopets home page.

Premium Neodeck

A new section called Premium Cards will appear in your Neodeck when subscribing to premium. These cards are not tradable or sellable—they are exclusive, collectible pieces of artwork that reflect how long you've been a Premium member. Typically, each card is themed around the Neopian month during which it was awarded, allowing you to showcase your Premium status with a touch of Neopian flair.

Premium Trophy

The Space Faerie Charm, similar to the Lutari Talisman, is not a tradable or usable virtual item. Instead, it appears in your user lookup under the Site Feature trophies. The charm can increase the Neopoints you earn from Flash games x2 when you submit your score. For example, if you earn 1,000 NP in a game, the charm could potentially increase that to 2,000 NP, and for Featured Games, it might even boost your reward to 4,000 NP! It does however randomly choose when to use this activate, so you can’t select which game it will apply to. The increased Neopoints happens before any extra Neopoint bonuses from your Lutari Talisman are applied.

Space Faerie Quests

While browsing the site, you may have received a quest from a random Faerie, but if you're a Premium member, one of those quests might be from Mira, the Space Faerie herself! Premium members have the unique opportunity to complete quests given by Mira, who will ask for items valued between r81-r94. In return, she will reward you with 5 levels for your active pet, making her quests a valuable perk for Premium subscribers.

Species Change Perk

Users are allowed to change the species of their pet once every 365 days, with this perk being tracked on an annual basis. Even if you cancel your Premium membership, the timer still continues. For example, if you use your Species Change Perk on September 3, 2024, you'll need to wait until September 3, 2025, to use it again. Unsubscribing and resubscribing won't reset this cooldown period.

To use the Species Change Perk, you can access it either from your Premium Toolbar or by visiting this page. From there, you'll be able to select which pet you want to change and choose the new species for your pet. If the species you're switching to has the same color as your pet’s current paint job, it will simply change the species, and you're all set. However, if the color isn't available for the new species, you'll be given the option to choose a different color that is available for that species.

Thanks to the Species Change Perk, premium users have been able to transform their pets into their dream pets. For example, if you had a Blue Blumaroo and wanted to get a Candy Hissi, you could simply change the Blumaroo into a color that the Hissi doesn't currently have available. At the time of writing this, the Blumaroo could be painted in colors like Burlap, Clay, Gold, Invisible, Oil Paint, Silver, Sketch, Snot, Strawberry, Swamp Gas, or Valentine, all of which were not available for the Hissi.

By using the Species Change Perk in this way, users can potentially gain access to pets that are only available on specific pet days, such as the Chomby or Lutari, as well as uniquely created pets like the Draik & Krawk, or even the Ice Bori, which was only available for a limited time in 2004. Before changing a pet’s color, it’s a good idea to double-check which colors are currently available, as new pet colors are released every month, and availability can change quickly. We highly recommend using the Premium Species Change Perk Helper on Neocolours. This tool is regularly updated with the latest pet color information, ensuring you can find the perfect color you'll need to transform your pet into your dreamie.

Super Shop Wizard

One of the standout perks of having a premium membership is the Super Shop Wizard (SSW), accessible from the bottom left of your toolbar or the top left corner on mobile-friendly pages. The SSW works similarly to the regular Shop Wizard (SW) but with a significant advantage: it scans all user shops in Neopia, not just a limited number, which allows you to find the lowest price possible for the item you seek! There are a few restrictions that the SSW has opposed to the regular SW. You cannont search for Transmogrification Potions, Nerkmids, most Paint Brushes, or map pieces for the Secret Lab & Petpet Lab. If you try to search for any of the items mentioned above, you'll get a message saying "Sorry, you are not allowed to search for ______ with the Super Shop Wizard."

The SSW also has a limit to how many times you can search for items in a given hour. After a certain amount of searches the wizard will become tired & need a rest. However, at the top of the next hour you'll be able to resume searching for items. Meaning even if you tired the wizard out at 1:56p NST you'll be able to resume searching again at 2:00p NST.

Just like the SW, the SSW cannot be used while being on an active Faerie Quest. It also scans galleries exactly the same as the SW does so its best to use the SW to scan galleries for items as to not waste a search attempt.

Lastly, the SSW also includes a useful option: when you tick the "price only" box before starting a search, it will calculate the average price of an item across all shops. You can further refine this search by setting a maximum price, allowing you to focus on more affordable options. However, keep in mind that while you’ll get the average prices, you won’t be able to see which shops are offering them. The great thing about this feature is that there are no limits on how many price-only searches you can perform, even if the Wizard is tired from your earlier searches! Users like to use this feature to help price their shops.
